Karen Green Recognised as a Bunnings Legend of the Tongs

8 Jul 2026

The Batemans Bay Seahawks are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own, Karen Green, who has been recognised as a Bunnings Legend of the Tongs – a national initiative that celebrates the volunteers who are the heart and soul of community football clubs across Australia.

For the past five years, Karen has been the driving force behind the Seahawks canteen, dedicating countless volunteer hours as our Canteen Manager. While many see the canteen bustling on game day, few see the work that happens behind the scenes.

Throughout the week, Karen spends hours planning, ordering stock, filling fridges, managing supplies and ensuring everything is ready before the first bounce. On Saturdays, she`s often the first person through the gates before 7:00am and one of the last to leave, keeping players, officials, volunteers and supporters fed across both junior and senior fixtures.

Karen`s dedication, reliability and willingness to help wherever needed have made her an invaluable part of our club. Her tireless efforts not only keep the canteen running smoothly but also play a significant role in raising vital funds that support football at every level within the Seahawks.

Volunteer recognition is something that can never happen enough, and this award is a fitting tribute to someone who gives so much of her time without ever asking for recognition in return.

On behalf of everyone at the Batemans Bay Seahawks, congratulations Karen on being named a Bunnings Legend of the Tongs. This recognition is richly deserved, and we thank you for everything you do for our club and our community.

Your passion, commitment and selfless service truly make you one of our legends.
