Seven Seahawks Named in 2026 AFL Canberra Teams of the Year
29 Sep 2026
The Batemans Bay Seahawks are incredibly proud to congratulate seven players who have been recognised with selection in the 2026 AFL Canberra Teams of the Year.
In our first season competing in the AFL Canberra Premier Division competitions, the selections are a fantastic recognition of the individual seasons produced by our players and a great achievement for the club.
Under 18 Women
Congratulations to Shaniece Smith, Hunter Absolon and Tia Freyer, who were all selected in the Under 18 Women’s Team of the Year. All three enjoyed outstanding seasons and played important roles in our young Under 18 Women’s side throughout 2026.
First Grade Women
Sophie Alves, Isla Judd and Zara Neil were each named in the First Grade Women’s Team of the Year following impressive seasons at Premier Division level. To have three Seahawks recognised among the competition’s best in our first year at this level is a fantastic achievement and reflects the progress of our women’s program.
First Grade Men
Seahawks captain Jarrod Thompson was named in the First Grade Men’s Team of the Year after an outstanding season leading the club in our first Premier Division campaign. Jarrod’s selection caps off a brilliant individual year and is a well-deserved recognition of his performances and leadership throughout the season.
Having seven Seahawks recognised across three Teams of the Year is something the entire club can be extremely proud of. Congratulations to Shaniece, Hunter, Tia, Sophie, Isla, Zara and Jarrod on a fantastic achievement and outstanding 2026 seasons!
